What counts as a Communicator?+–
A Communicator is one person who is using boards to talk — your child, a student, anyone you support. Each Communicator has their own boards, voice settings, and MySpeak page. Caregivers and helpers don't count against your Communicator total.
What's a Loaner Communicator, and how does recycling work?+–
On Pro, five of your Communicator slots can be loaned to families who don't have their own plan yet. On Enterprise, your full seat allotment is loanable — sized to your roster on a contact-sales basis. Verified, licensed SLPs, OTs, and AT specialists get two loaner slots on the free Clinician account. In every case: you set up the boards, hand it over, and when that family is ready to take over their own account, the slot opens back up for the next kid. You don't pay per family forever.
Can I switch plans or cancel anytime?+–
Yes. Upgrade, downgrade, or cancel from your account settings. No phone call, no retention loop.
What happens to my boards if I downgrade or cancel?+–
Your boards stay yours. If you cancel, your account drops to Free — you keep one board and your MySpeak page. If you downgrade past your current Communicator count, we archive the extras safely until you come back.
Do I need an iPad or a specific device?+–
No. SpeakAnyWay runs in a browser on whatever you've got — iPad, iPhone, Android, Chromebook, laptop. Install it as an app on the home screen if you want it to feel native.
Can I print boards?+–
Yes — on every plan, including Free. Any board downloads as a PDF to print and laminate. Black and white for a school printer, and you can turn the QR code off.
Is there a free trial of Basic or Pro?+–
Yes — both Basic and Pro come with a 14-day free trial, and you don't need a credit card to start it. Sign up, use the full plan for two weeks, and only add a card if you decide to keep it. If you do nothing, your account simply drops to the Free plan when the trial ends — no charge, no surprise. And the Free plan stays free for as long as you want.
Can I pay once instead of subscribing?+–
Yes. Flip the billing toggle to "Pay once" for a 5-Year License: $199 for Basic or $499 for Pro, one payment, no subscription. That's the same plan you'd get monthly — every feature, every slot — just paid up front for five years. Other AAC apps: $250–300, one child, one device. SpeakAnyWay: free to start, $8 a month, or $199 once for your whole family.
What happens after 5 years?+–
Your account drops to Free — and you keep everything. Every board and every communicator stays. Anything over the Free limits becomes read-only, so nothing is deleted; you just can't add past the free caps until you renew. We'll send a renewal offer before your license expires, so you're never surprised. It's a promise: your work is yours to keep.
Do you have school or clinic pricing?+–
For one classroom, flip the billing toggle to "Pay once": a 5-Year License is $199 for Basic or $499 for Pro, one payment, no subscription. For a district or a multi-clinician practice, Enterprise adds SSO, PO billing, and onboarding — email hello@speakanyway.com for a quote. Licensed SLPs, OTs, and AT specialists can apply for a free Clinician account instead.
I'm a teacher, not a clinician — which account do I want?+–
The free Clinician account is for licensed SLPs, OTs, and AT specialists, so teachers and classroom staff aren't eligible. Buy the pay-once 5-Year License instead: $199 for Basic, $499 for Pro, one payment, no subscription. Setting up a whole school? Email hello@speakanyway.com.
What if I'm an SLP with a personal eval license from another vendor?+–
Apply for a free Clinician account. Verified, licensed SLPs, OTs, and AT specialists get premium features unlocked, generous limits, and monthly AI credits — enough to evaluate the whole product with two real families, not just demo a board. Most other vendors' "free for SLPs" license is one working copy for you, with no slots to hand to clients. When you're carrying a caseload rather than evaluating, Pro is the step up from there.
Do you have a Partner or affiliate program?+–
