See how your communicator is talking

Every tap your communicator makes adds up. The Stats tab turns those taps into a picture you can actually use: which words they reach for, which days they talked, and which spots on a board get used (or never do).

Watch it first: a tour of the Stats tab

What you'll need

  • A paid plan. On the free plan, the Stats tab shows what's included and an Upgrade button.
  • A communicator you can edit.
  • Some taps to look at. Taps are counted when your communicator uses their boards while signed in as themselves, and when someone taps the boards on their MySpeak page. Taps you make while signed in as yourself aren't counted.

Open Stats

  1. Go to Communicators and pick who you want to check on.
  2. Tap the Stats tab.
  3. Pick a date range at the top right: the last 7, 30, 60, 90, 180 or 365 days. Everything on the page updates to match.

What you'll see

  • The top row sums it up: total taps, how many different words they used (and their top word), how many days they talked, and their busiest day.
  • Activity heatmap: one square per day. Darker squares mean more taps, so you can spot good weeks and quiet ones at a glance.
  • Most used words: their top words as a bar chart, colored the same way as the tiles (verbs green, nouns orange, and so on).
  • Parts of speech: how their taps split between verbs, nouns, describing words and the rest.
  • Word events: every recent tap, newest first, with the board it came from.
  • Recently used boards: the boards they've opened lately.
  • Board click map: a grid of where recent taps landed on each board. Switch boards with the buttons above it.

Tip: The click map is great for spotting a word that's hard to reach, or a tile that never gets tapped. Either one is a nudge to move it, swap it, or model it more. See Edit a board.

Common questions

  • It says "No taps in the last 180 days." Nothing was tapped in that range. Tap Show the last 365 days to look further back. Brand new? Once your communicator starts using their boards, the page fills in.
  • Does it change anything on their boards? No. Stats only reads taps. Nothing on a board is moved or changed.
  • Why aren't my own taps showing? Only your communicator's taps count: on their own sign-in, or on their MySpeak page. That keeps their numbers about them.
